I worked for a dealer years ago, and I needed to hunt for a wheel and hub. The first supplier I called wanted $400, but after an hour of phoning I finally found the exact same item for $35.
I learned that many suppliers simply find a source and mark it up. There's no telling how many middle-men have done the same along the way.
I'm sure most of them don't know either (or care).
