Many around here are in the "more dirt showing the better" camp so they probably love that side effect. I don't mind residue on top. Keeps the dirt from changing hands. My one field of corn that had the stubble standing all winter probably gained dirt when the first snow storm hit and it blew like crazy. North west of here a ways there are road ditches with at least 2 inches of dirt sitting on top the dead grass from that storm.
