| I picked up a Gehl GE503Z from Stan Houston rental today. It is for sale and they are letting me use it for a week before I decide if I want it for sure. I was impressed with it tonight. I had been using a Bobcat 331 for tile connections. I love how easy the 331 is to move around, but sometimes I wish I could dig a bit faster- especially in the hard dry ground we had last fall. The GE503Z is not quite half again as big as the 331, but I think I can dig and fill in the trench twice as fast even though the hp is about the same. The visibility was great as well.
The only slight concern I had was that when I push down on the stick with my little 331, I can instantly lift the tracks off the ground. On the Gehl, I have to curl the bucket slightly as I push down on the sick and then it raises up. I don't notice any problem when digging though. I got to thinking my big 21 ton excavator does the same thing, but it is an older machine, and I just thought it was a symptom of age. Is this normal on bigger machines?
I am not real familiar with Gehl, but we have great dealer support in this area (10 dealers within 100 miles and 2 within 15). What are some others experience with Gehl? | |
