central KS | The need for higher seeding rates with the drill is to compensate for the inconsistent seed placement. Adding Exapta's UniForce hyd. dn. force system to the 1990 will dramatically improve the consistency of seed placement to the point that you can cut your seeding rate similar to what you would drop with a planter (assuming all the components of the drill row unit are in good condition) The JD hyd dn. pressure on the drill still relies on the coil spring for individual row down pressure and lack consistency especially on the down stroke (ie. seed on top of the ground in dips, draws and terrace channels)
