We went from chopping to calmer rolls. Less power, less maintainance and stalks good this spring. I don’t think chopping heads are in our future unless they get more dependable. Also not as hard on tires.


I would agree. I bale stalks behind all manner of heads; conventional, chopping, calmer rolls. Looks to me like the calmer rolls get the stalks chewed just as fine as the chopper heads without the extra moving parts. Even well worn calmer rolls still are pretty effective.
