North Central Iowa | I think the problem of the sapp getting up on the rotary screens is worse on 8 row and bigger heads. Lot more stalks getting chopped and no tire or machine blocking it from moving towards rotary screen.
I've run a 6 row chopping head 14 seasons and have never had an issue of screen plugging. 2 different combines. I have noticed some "stuff" on the screens but have never had to stop to deal with it. The front tires block and catch alot of the sapp it seems like on the 6 row.
