WC Mn/Dakotas | I agree with kp. One thing he touched on it a little was the 2 different kinds creating forward movement. I've seen here in the rrv wet clays where guys are running very wide equipment that the big hp T tractors are too light. They are heavy enough to compress the top few inches vertically of wet soil but they are also compressing soil more horizontal at the same time. I've seen more than once where a T tractor broke down and a wheeled tractor came in and finished and had less "rut" reduced crops. Some guys I've seen with big T tractors will add more weight by plates or filling saddle tanks more and be better off. I think to an extent you can have too little down and it creates too much horizontal and that seems to be worse than a little more down with less horizontal. There needs to be a balance, but overall I think tracks have more advantages usually. | |
