Subject: Adding a hydraulic thumb on an excavator

Tomball,Texas
I have a Case 1088 excavator,it was made by Poclain in Italy,Case bought them out around 30 years ago,it’s a 48,000 lb machine. Most things on it are obsolete but it’s still in pretty good shape and I only use on my own place.I found a hydraulic thumb that I can get bought right and I’m wondering how much trouble it will be to add another hydraulic valve to operate the thumb. Is there an electric valve that could be mounted on the boom and use the lines for the bucket cylinder using a switch on the joystick or am I going to have to mount a valve on the machine and run lines out to the cylinder.
I know these things can run into a lot of money but I think a hydraulic thumb would be a lot better than the stationary one on it now.
Thanks.
