I know what you are going to do too , being a stand up guy and farmer you will be eating the whole bill.

We have a 'licensed mechanic/farmer' do our safeties and repairs and , IDK if its a GM problem but twice we have had vehicles with bad power steering pumps that were replaced and the new ones were faulty.

In March my Sons 2018 Ram sounded like lifter noise, he diagnosed it and said it looks like it needs lifters,cam,timing chain,ect. but He called Chrysler to see if they covered anything past warranty. They did and Chrysler installed new motor for just labor cost. Our mechanic said he would have needed around $4,000 cdn. to fix old motor.

His wife now does the 'books' and if the bill is significant she says 'I am sorry I feel bad it cost that much'....Makes you appreciate them
