SE MN | Organic and sustainable are frequently lumped together but are actually opposites in a lot of ways. I think we might be able to do weed control without tillage or herbicides using automated mechanical or laser weeding machines, but there's just no way to feed the world without artificial fertilizers. Maybe you can get corn to fix its own nitrogen from the atmosphere, but some nutrients don't come from the atmosphere and mass balance says you can't haul the grain away and not replace the nutrients. | |
