coast of Maine
Canadians fish way different rules than USA lobstering(Maine),here they fish year around with severe limits on sizes,no small no female with eggs,no large. In OH Canada its based on balls to the wall for maybe 6 weeks, phenominal catches over a short time and take almost all sizes. So when I was a kid in school many friends fished ,oh we have x$ in the rigging and boats,,Thought it was amazing...Now as a farmer who has to buy land and buildings and equipment, their investment is low compared to their net$ most years.Sure some run with 25k$ boats ,some with $750 k boats, all have same number of traps(800)limited.Some do very well ,large % are lawless dopers, rest are really upstanding guys,Im going to say the Canadian way appeals to my lobstering friends, majority of maine lobsters go to Canada ,,to be processed,,,by Chinese labor in Canadian plants,,,what a world,,,Frozen tails go to Saudi Arabia etc by the plane loads,,almost daily
