Subject: Another old fertilizer outlet

Central Illinois
I’m sure many on here remember the Standard Oil fertilizer outlets. We even had one in my hometown for five years. As I recall, they were mostly into liquid fertility. Back in the late sixties and thru mid to late seventies, a local tank manufacturer had a standing order of 100 floater trucks a year from Standard Oil. They would get those orange Ford Louisville cab and chassis units in every fall and put them together all winter. Local plant was, and still is, Precision Tank and Equipment, although they have gone from two plants to something like six plants now. Besides Illinois, they are in Indiana, Iowa and Florida.
