Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa

blacklander - 4/29/2021 21:03 I am going to go across Iowa to take a track that I bought in Illinois to D&S in Nebraska. I was wondering what you Iowa folks thought would be the better route across your state. I’m not in a huge rush, but I would like to make decent time getting across. Are there any trouble spots on either route? I’m planning on crossing into Iowa at Clinton. Thanks for any help.

In my mind, I-80 is a death trap on wheels. I know the accident rate actually is probably very low, but it's a nerve-wracking trip whether east bound or west, and when there is a wreck, it's usually monumental. Truck traffic is incredible. Personally, I'd take 30 in a heartbeat.  Nice views, decent road and you don't have to be on defense every second of the trip. FWIW.
