20 Miles West of Indianapolis Indiana
Steel mill I work at in November made a cut from 6 crews in my department to 5. That lasted about a month before we were working overtime to cover for the lost crew. In January they said they needed to go back to 6 crews and we haven’t been able to run fast enough to keep up with new orders/backlog.
Just the other day (I’m off for FMLA for new baby) a co worker text me telling me about a 7th crew being added. It’s crazy there now. I’m hoping they don’t get caught in a pinch if customers won’t take material or stop ordering because of something they can’t get to finish a job (like chips to finish vehicles). Let’s hope China doesn’t kibosh to Taiwan.
