It's all about context. Certainly, we should all do whatever is necessary and helpful to alleviate suffering and pain in others, regardless of their particular ailment. Would you not agree?

The thing is we are all mortal and barring the second coming, every last one of us on this ball of mud will be dead sometime between now and 130 years from now. It's absolutely unavoidable, despite our best efforts. You're going to die and it very likely won't be when or how you choose. Probably won't be very pleasant, regardless. So, how do you plan on using the allotted time left to you?

I know how I and many, many others intend to use it. Yes, use your head and take precautions, but don't lose site of the real big picture, because this isn't the end.
