We noticed last year and this year, after 8 or 10 seasons, that the clutches were wearing some. A couple rows specifically would refuse to start planting coming into a pass, so we would stop and try again and they would plant.
this year We tightened the big outside screw on some to pull everything back in alignment and replaced the old worn short chains and so far things are working better. If there is a torque spec on that screw I don’t know what it is but tightening it from loose and floppy to a bit of tension has helped so far.
We have also generally never oiled those chains, we have used some graphite chain lube in the past.
