Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | There are a couple of possibilities. One is the GPS distances. These are absolutely critical for this situation. Ag Leader has you enter various measurements concerning where the GPS is physically located relative to the tractor axle. They also want the distance from the axle to the hitch either 2 point or actual hitch. For the planter they want the distance from the hitch to the application point.
If you are using SureVacs, they instruct you to use a "fudge" factor to modify the value of the length of the hitch as the system needs "lead time" based on population to get the timing correct. All of these measurement are critical. The system uses all these measurements to decide where the GPS is located relative to the seed drop point.
There are also timing values that can be adjusted. These deal with the lead times for starting and stopping seed flow.
Another operating flaw is the using the "Stop and drop" planting technique. The systems are designed so the operator drops the planter early and the system starts the planting. Likewise when reaching an end, the operator should not stop but raise the planter after the system has shut it off.
This can work very well but the measurements and timing values are extremely important. |
