Fruita CO
As I remember, there was no choice, we lined up at school & got the shot...period...And as Ron said, polio was a lot worse than COVID. When I was about 5, my Dad was working at a mine out of Uravan CO, one of the owners of the mine had leg braces & used crutches all his life from Polio...I remember I was sick that summer & my Mom was scared I had polio...took me to the doctor in Dove Creek CO, I don't remember what I had but it wasn't Polio. That disease was around for a long time, & was always in the news.
And as I remember one early batch of vaccine was tainted & killed people...maybe that plus the swine flu debacle made people more aware of vaccine dangers?
