I thought the OP was a Nebraskan buying land here! Last week a couple of parcels sold to Nebraska farmers. Both located within a few miles of the border.
OP, logistically,your situation is more difficult as you would need to immigrate and our current rulers aren't keen on letting more or less wealthy people in here. Whatever you decide, stay well away from any metropolitan areas.
