Near-north Ontario, French River | I saw it in the theatre when it came out. I will say from a cinematography, sound, visual aspect it was fantastic... but from a movie stand point I was very disappointed. I expected a movie that dealt with the actual evacuation of Dunkirk yet somehow the movie managed to almost gloss over the enormity of that event.... had it not been named Dunkirk I think most would have been hard pressed to make the connection.. One thing that did bother me , was the disparity between the number of troops that were actually on the beach in reality vs what is portrayed in the movie... there were tens of thousands on those beaches yet in the movie, even in the wide angle shots there appeared to be 100's at most... with modern CGI they could have filled the beach to make for a more historically accurate 'scene'... i gave it a 4/10 . |
