Subject: RE: planting pace with dry weather

SE Iowa
Every year is different. There are days to plant and days to park the planter. I've had corn lay 4 1/2 weeks to spike and this early planting of either corn or beans with these conditions, has more risk then reward. I'm a firm believer of doing things ONCE not twice. This is not a spring to be jumping the gun around here. Corn goes in first, beans second for me. Beans have a larger window to plant and I hate combining wet corn. Beans do not take a frost, corn can survive it better. Seed is expensive, replant seed may not be available or not what you want, free or not. Maybe end of next week if it dries out but we are too wet anyway.
