ecmn | If your P2 is double your P1 you are at a .5 ratio of available P to tied up P. So any P you apply will basically tie up 1/2 of your application anyway. Whatever you have stored in your P2 will eventually move over to P1 and be usable for the crop. Depending on farming practices and when your soils hit 65 degrees to start the mineralization process, you can move around a 1/3 from P2 to P1 yearly. We raise some awful good crops on a Bray 1 of 6-10 with minimal P application a year. I don't worry about my P1 very much as long as the P2 isn't dropping. | |
