If you right click on the taskbar and then click on "Task Manager" it will bring up an app that give you a good idea of what your computer using it's resources on. I have Win 10 but I think Win 7 is pretty similar. Click the "Process and "Performance" tabs to see what is happening. In the process tab you can click on the CPU and Memory columns to get a sorted list to see what is using the most memory and CPU. This is can be helpful in finding performance bottlenecks.

Even with all the stuff you have going I would think 24GB would be fine unless you are dealing with some very large files in the apps you have open.

Another thing that can sometimes really kill performance is internet security software. On an older computer I once had to turn off something IIRC called Behavior Shield because it was slowing things down too much. This may vary from one security software package to another.
