Cedar Rapids, Iowa | 8 GB at a minimum. 12 or 16 GB if you have a lot of stuff open at a time.
More important than RAM is having a SSD instead of a regular hard drive. I'll take a 10 year old computer with a SSD and 8 GB of RAM over a brand new computer with a regular hard drive and any amount of RAM.
If your computer is slow, upgrade it. Spend $40 for a 250 GB Samsung SSD from Newegg. Install Windows 10 from a USB flash drive (which you can download using Windows 7). Do the install without a network cable plugged in to avoid the microsoft live account registration junk. Tell it you don't have a product key, it will install anyway. Once the install is done, put in your Windows 7 key code, then activate Windows. They're still allowing free upgrades to 10. | |
