north central Ohio
We have a really good local coop that we do HTA's for all new crop sales as basis almost always improves. With a HTA through them they work with many places and if we can get a better basis going to a place they deal with we can deliver there vs one of the coop's locations and pick up even more basis. The only place we have found that they can't deal with is an ethanol plant that won't take their HTA's. So far that hasn't been an issue. I can see selling on the board and getting out of the positions as you make cash sales because it might cause places you contract with to not increase basis if they know they already have your business.
