Wisconsin | I know a guy that cuts off the charge line on the compressor, solders in a cleaned up brass tire valve, screws the core back in, and charges by weight with a can of r134 with a fix a flat hose on it. Works fine. Yours may need to be recharged in another 8 years, and you'll never trust the refrigerator, but that's life these days, unless you still have an IH fridge.
Don't be too afraid of the control boards, fridges functioned BETTER for decades without control boards, there are replacement solutions out there, or you have to make your own. But you don't have to squeeze the last nickle out of it's annual operating cost like the original designer who put all that crap in there in the first place. | |
