Nw Iowa | GDP was better under Obama as we came out of housing crisis. Pretty easy to make a 1 a 2, Trump took a economy that got stagnant after housing crisis stabilized. Don’t disagree that corps should pay more tax, at least than you could choose if you want to do business with that Corp you would be paying extra tax. The problem with all this is that it sounds good in a speech or on paper but in reality it doesn’t work because Corps have enough loopholes and can change main address very quickly. They may spend millions to do it but save hundreds of millions in tax. Do you think Jeff Bezos goes to his taxman at the end of the year and says I gotta file my taxes? He has a roomful of accountants that started figuring tax angles day one and do you think they maybe have some friends with inside information that may give them some tips what is actually going to get passed before anybody else knows?
The reality is that we are the rich. We don’t have a pension, but we try to pay for a farm or two over our lifetimes. It will be same for those that accumulated a stock portfolio , there is a larger number there that can be taxed ( stock portfolio may have been accumulated with pre tax dollars, farm was not). Democrats have same old playbook, tax the rich, but if you look at history, it has never worked. They either figure out how to not pay or stop investing and economy falters. Many of the lefts ideas have been tried many times over the time in world history and track record is zero. | |
