Starter solenoid was known to stick on the older Cummins engines.
However, generally they stayed 'on' after you started cranking, and didn't do it on their own. Maybe unhook the small wire on the solenoid and see if it does that again. If so a mouse might have chewed insulation off wires letting them touch.
