Subject: RE: Cold rain on newly planted corn

Southwest Illinois
In 2020 we planted a lot of corn April 5-8th. Temps were warm and conditions ideal. We were hit with 7 to 8 inches of rain and a week with low temps in the upper 20s to low 30s. I figured we would replant it all. We had several fields we didn't touch at all. Had a couple fields with some low areas that needed isolated replant and 2 fields that should have been torn up. I think the later was due to a mediocre cold germ. In 2021 we planted April 5th and 6th. Again ideal conditions, but so far just an inch of rain(that fell very gently) and a forecast of highs in the 60's and lows in the 38-45 degree range with very limited precipitation forecasts for the next 2 weeks. At this point I am not worried about what we have planted.
