sw ontario | Topshot agree with all your points as same here with payments 'the rich get richer,the big get bigger' and it just hurts the struggling farmers or those wanting to get started fulltime as gov't payments just push up demand for land and rents/ prices..
Farmers I would trust have the most safety net programs of any business and when a bad weather event or price collaspe happens we still get ad hoc payments.
Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO) is pushing for gov't to increase RMP coverage , I just can't support that as when some farmers are bidding $100-150 more to rent land this spring and every land sale is at a higher price it is pretty hard to support more gov't monies when our gov't is broke.
Someday, when Joe the Public taxpayer finds out how much money a lot of farms are making and the net woth of farmers there will be pushback | |
