Subject: RE: Go fund me for Burdick

Near Richmond, IN

Government subsidies for crop insurance, I think, is one of the biggest barriers to young people getting started in farming and we need more young people farming.  Insurance subsidies make insurance so much easier to afford that you can about insure that you won't fail.  If the subsidies were removed, I think the cost would be high enough that many would not be willing to continually get bigger as the risk would be too great.  Therefore a person just starting out might have a lot better chance of getting that piece of ground they could really use to be able to make it.  Right now big farmers always take any ground they can find at about any cost since they can insure they won't fail.  I honestly believe we would all be better off if the government got completely out of farming---no subsidies and no market control---no embargoes..
