Subject: Prenuptial agreements

NW Iowa. / SW Arizona
I was visiting with a 70+ year old acquaintance yesterday, she lost her husband a number of years ago to cancer. She is engaged to a 70+ old widower who lost his wife to cancer a number of years ago also. I asked her if they have a wedding date set yet and she said they are getting closer but are working on a prenuptial agreement as they both have 40+ year old kids.

She kind of through me for a whirl when she asked what I thought of prenuptial agreements. Since I know both of them very well I just said “I’m not going to get in the middle of this” with a smile. I did just make a small comment that it would be advantageous to the surviving spouse and kids to know how you both wanted your will carried out.

I’m just curious with you that had or have prenuptial agreements what are some of the positives and negatives to having one? Plus what would you put in one?
