Hazelton, Kansas 6.75 miles N of Crowbar
Don't overthink it. I just went through parts of 3 States and loaded a 24r30 planter (16' wide) on a drop deck and made it home without any grief. Just obey the traffic laws and you will be fine. I have beacons, flags and oversize banners. None of the patrolman I crossed in front of gave a second look. I have bought trucks and trailers out of state. The port sw of KC on I35 pulls me over about 50% of the time. Just give them the paperwork. They grunt and say ok. Be a smart a with them and they will eat you for lunch. I went to pick up a trailer in CO. Had called the Port at Limon to see if I needed a fuel permit. Stopped to buy one at Limon and worked with the same girl I had talked to on the phone. Couldn't sell me a permit because my CDL had expired. Told me to go get my trailer, be good, and head straight home to to my Kansas CDL office without passing GO. Dirt
