Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa | Four years ago this month, my mom, who was 89 at the time, had her last ocular injection for macular degeneration. We saw her retinologist in Ames IA today, and no shot was necessary. We began this adventure 8 years ago, when she had a bad bleed behind her retina, causing a real issue with her MD. She has no vision at all in her right eye as a result of treatment with tamoxifen after breast cancer. The tamoxifen caused a clot in her Right eye, which destroyed vision. So it was pretty scary when this retinal bleed threatened her "good" eye. Would just say if you, or anyone you care about, have retinal issues, head to McFarland Clinic in Ames and ask for Dr. Tracy Kangas. |
