Subject: Skid loader question... 74 hp?

North Central IN
Over the last couple years, we have become a silage based cow/calf operation, and became very dependent on the skid loader. My bride has given the tentative approval for adding a newer one.

Current machine is a Bobcat S300. It’s approaching 20 years old tho. Anything that I’ve seen of that vintage has WAY more hours on it than mine does. It’s 92 HP I believe.

To get down to the 500-1000 hr mark, I need to have a machine that is around 5 years old. Big ones all have DEF, which I would like to avoid. If I get down to no DEF models, they are 74 hp. Is anyone missing the 20 hp from guys that have made the jump? Or does the improved hydraulic capacity make up for it?

Clean lots, feed hay, feed silage, little dirt work, but I do have a Arts-Way bale shredder to bed with.

Brands to pick from: Bobcat, JCB, Kubota, Deere. Anything else is out of my area for parts/service.

Is the 20 hp gonna make a difference?
