NC Iowa
I used straight carbide blades. They were about $190+ on amazon. They are non reversible, but can be resharpened by a good shop. I did not want to spring for the rotary cutting head, but they are better from what I read. Not sure of the price anymore.

Description
TCT Carbide Tipped Moulder Knives offer over 1,000% (10 times) the tool life of T1-HSS. Carbide is used on hardwoods (i.e. Hickory, Hard Maple, MDF, plywood, etc.) Carbide is very hard (~92 Rc). Carbide can wear over 100,000 lineal feet, but is also brittle and can chip if the wood is not free of staples or rocks.
