Subject: Clearing wind blown trees

SW Louisiana
I would like to clear about 30 acres of pine woods that were destroyed during the hurricane. The trees are mid 30 yrs old and most are snapped 10 - 20 feet up. In this 30 acres 90+% of the trees are down.

Reading previous posts it sounds like an excavator w/ thumb is most efficient? I may rent a machine, but what size is recommended?

How many hours per acre can a competent operator clear with said machine? An idea of fuel usage per hour for said machine? I know there's a lot of variables, but looking for ballpark ideas of what I may be looking at.

.
