Floyd County, Iowa | There are other options out there besides flea collars.
.
We have 1 German Sheppard outside, 2 chorkies and 1 dachshund inside.
We live in the country and we used to have fleas BAD!
I mean walk around with shorts and you would get tore up.
Didn't dare go into the basement without long pants on.
Tried flea collars, tried dusting, tried dipping, just could not get ahead of it.
Then I found Prozap Insectrin X.
Have been using it for about 3 years now, and we are in heaven......NO Fleas! and no flea collars.
.
I mix it 6 oz to 1 gallon water in a portable sprayer.
At first, I was spraying every 2 days, then every 2 weeks. Now winter, every 2 months.
It is not a soaking spray, just a mist.
I sprayed all dog beds, all wall edges, all step crevices, couches, chairs, under beds, on beds, the whole basement floor.
Everywhere you think a flea could land, spray it. I think this stuff kills even after it dries.
Outside, up the house about 2 feet and out about 6 feet.
In the summer, I will spray outside dog bed every 2 weeks and do the inside of the house every month.
In fall, I will do extra because the little animals start to come in when the weather starts to change.
I will spray all buildings that are close to the house. Inside and outside lower walls.
.
I would say it took about a month and we were flea free.
I'm here to tell ya, at first it was a lot of spraying.
Now, not so much. Now it is more of a preventative measure.
.
Here is a picture of the bottle.
Hope it helps you, It sure worked for us.
.
Have a good day
.
Edit to add
Yes, it has a slight odor to it.
When I spray the inside of the house, we usually leave for a few hours.
Like the wife has said, "I don't care about the smell, the fleas are GONE!"
.
Edit to add
No, I do not spray the dogs.
They get it when they lay in their dog beds, and it kills the fleas.
