You are exactly right Clicker. We did this long ago in hogs though there never was much "romance" in raising hogs - no big truck or belt buckle. It would be nice if some things in farming were "set it and leave it" but that's pretty much gone. Unless you have something special to sell that customers will pay up for, it's best to find efficiencies like contracting (is that back grounding?) or other steady income situation until you come up with a more profitable plan (if you decide you want to). Of course, this comes with lots of "poo-poo" because you become something like me - a pig janitor, but I'm still in business and it works.
