Kingdom of Callaway - Fulton, Mo 65251 | I did a test recently on bedding. I have two concrete pens, both with 60 head of feeders on them. I have been scraping them as needed and then throwing on 4 stalk bales. I kind of half unroll them, and they root around the rest. I'm always pleased how evenly they spread it by the next day.
I swiped a used 2544 haybuster with the rotating discharge spout from our dealership, took it home, and used it blowing bedding on one pen, and not the other. The pen where I blew it on used one less bale, and the pen stayed a lot dryer longer than the unrolled pen. As a bonus, when I scraped both off, the manure off the pen with the chopped bedding spread a lot better on the fields.
But I don't know if it was worth the time and machinery expense to keep one around.
If I was going to buy one, I'd get one with the discharge spout like I used so you can blow it over the bunks or a fence. |
