If you are looking for really low maintenance, find an older left hand discharge Bale King. We hove one that is twenty years old or so. 700-1000 bales a year through it. It is direct drive, so no reverser to give you troubles(and they do have troubles with those reverser/gearboxes.) Two hydraulic drive spinners to roll the bale around. We have replaced the hammers/flails once( probably need them again.), and replaced the front half of the PTO last year as the CV joint wore out. That is it for maintenance in 21 years. We use a cheap electric charcoal starter to burn the net wrap off the rotor and the spinners about once a month. One of the best machinery investments we have made on our farm.
