Drill it anytime but try to get the rye off early. Even a bu will affect final stand due to competition. Our best fescue stands are fall seeded with 30lbs oats and the oats winter killed. Second best was spring planted and chopped the oats. Run #20lbs of grass and 2-5lbs clover.
