How does that work with large temperature swings like we get? I have floor heat in the shop and I just control the temperature manually with a valve. For me, the shop temp does not to be as even as the house.

Works fine. Never change the wall thermostat on the electric boiler. Impossible to overshoot the temperature by much because the water temperature is only 70F. Shop is well insulated. If the insulation was poor you would need to run a slightly higher temperature into the floor to get enough radiant capacity to heat the building. The lowest water temperature that will heat the building sufficiently will give the most even temperature.

The plan is to hook up a used oil fired boiler. Will set up the boiler with a thermostatic mixing valve to provide the same water temperature going into the floor. Boiler will run at a higher temperature.
