Battle creek MI | I can't think of a good reason to run a rubber belt in oil and it's not common place to do that in an engine. Rubber grit from a belt isn't material you want in the oil. Looking up the part in the Ford parts catalog it gives the description as timing belt/chain. Looking at the illustration it shows it as a belt. if it was a chain it would have a tensioner on it. Haven't been inside the new 5.0l yet. I have a call into Ford today I'll have to ask. I've done lots of work on the 7.3L Ford. It runs a chain with a tensioner. it also has a solenoid control by the computer to reduce oil pressure when needed.
