Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | While watching You tube today one pickup test guy mentioned that the 21 model Ford 5L V8 has cylinder deactivation like the GM and Mopar pushrod V8's, but also has a belt driven oil pump Like the new D Max 3 L diesel. Good idea or bad idea, only time will tell.
Wondering if there is any other engine with a lot of years / miles on a wet belt system like this to drive an oil pump to prove this system ??
With the chevy 3L diesel, it looks like a lot of work to replace that belt as the transmission needs to be removed to access it, while the Ford V8 looks like the front cover and cam chain setup needs to be removed to slide a new oil pump drive belt in there. Also lots to take apart.
