North Carolina | I agree with tc22. I can't remember the exact numbers but there is a relationship between test weight, time, and moisture. Moisture and test weight are not a 1 to 1 ratio and time is not your friend. Longer it sites in bin the lower the test weight goes, maybe only 2lbs maybe 4lbs bu. 12k bu= 24000lb to 48000lb.
Bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Sell it, move it, put cash in bank, eliminates all risks. Now buy yourself corn on paper with call/put option. Dec calls at 4.7 are 45cent now. Go to CME website and play around with trading simulator & online classes. Then hit TD ameritrade.com & for 2k you can open an account online account and start buying or selling paper corn.
I just use my bins for harvest, so I can get it outa field asap. Then find best basis price I can and haul it out. Get the cash and buy it back on paper if I want. I've stored corn from the field at 16% 62lb test weigh in fall SEpt/Oct and 8 months later pulled out 13% 58lb & 56lb test weight corn. | |
