Subject: RE: New milking parlour questions

Lacombe, Alberta
New construction on a new farm if everything works out but not afraid of used to save money. In our Delaval new heifers sometimes need a push to turn and a second person to point head to right spot with a cane. I plan to be on my own and don't want to get my wife out of bed to help for 30 seconds. Haven't heard any complaints about loading Germania herringbones but they are huge compared to a parallel. Was planning on robots but feed cost and maintenance are pushing me to a big used parlour and just be fast and have part time high school kid for days off if I can make it work with one person milking. My uncle went from a 90s Delaval parallel like ours to brand new two years ago and says cows load way better but not sure if one person could always do new animals.

Edit: new parabone was same cost as robots and haven't seen to many used locally. Germania was updated to ID and meters and sort gate that I wanted.
