Subject: An Ag Talk Trick that Works

West Central Illinois
I cannot remember who put this on here a while back but a guy on here was unrolling bales then taking a reel with hotwire on it and some step in posts placing it over the top of the window where the cattle couldn't lay on the windrow, walk it down and poop/pee on it.

No bale unrolled yet here just flaking a few hundred lb.s per day to these stocker calves off a 5x6 in the barn next to this pasture. Very little waste here, maybe 5% or less. I just roll out about 40 yd or so worth of wire on the reel then put a electric fence post every 6 or 7 yd giving good space per calf. Small operation here not even backgrounding quite enough to fill a pot load but always trying to find alternative to muddy lots and concrete. Will move the post every day to put in new spot to keep fresh, gave them all their 2nd round of shots Saturday morning with the wife fighting them in the mud and slop then they got rewarded with a few acres of stockpile fescue supplemented with hay and their normal gluten pellet and bean meal feeding every day. Whoever that posted this trick it is appreciated here in Illinois!
