Central Minnesota | We’ve had four kids show 4-h animals, from poultry, to sheep, goats, dairy, a lot of beef.
We’ve usually put a halter on them and let them drag it around for a week. When we feed them we try to stay close for a bit. Helps with nerves on the calf. Then step on the halter to see if he’ll stop from the pressure. If that goes well we’ll tie him for 15- 20 minutes along with another so they are not by themselves at first. Slowly increasing the time tied.
Some take longer than others. Some will break in a week, some it takes a little longer. Good luck and have fun with the kids. I sure miss it. | |
