I would not advise trying to run de icer in place of DEF if someone was to reconnect the system. You would throw all kinds of errors. You could winterize the tank with just about anything like RV antifreeze or whatever but then you would have to know to drain and flush the tank. I'd just leave it empty and maybe flush some water through it then seal it up.
